Education during the Pandemic

Education, John Dewey (1916) put it, a social process – ‘a process of living and not a preparation for future living’. It will help us develop ourselves, our emotions, personalities, thoughts, interacting with others, and dealing with problems we may encounter, not only that but it preps us for our future life experiences. It is important that everyone gets the quality education they deserve, in order to move on to a bright and beautiful future. Like Dr. Jose Rizal said, 'The youth is the hope of our future.' .We are the hope of our own futures, we must take things seriously. We are now facing one of the biggest challenges of all time.

As of where we stand now, we currently have had a big change due to the sudden outbreak of the coronavirus that had affected us greatly. We learn through various methods now such as communicating through the internet, online, or some prefer to learn through the use of modules given by the school because any physical contact or interaction with someone that could possibly possess the virus would lead to more cases and further spreading of the virus. There are, of course, advantages and disadvantages for these practices such as they prevent further worsening our situation but cause tardiness for some students.

In my opinion, the practice we are currently doing is flawed, just handing us module and tasks to do expect us to understand it without proper guidance because some subjects or topics are a lot better thought or shown by a teacher than just simply reading and copying it as it is in the modules. Without any guidance or supervision from a teacher

students might wander off somewhere else than do modules, such as social media or online games, or procrastinating for 1-3 days and rushing it the last few days left.

I suggest trying frequent, if not always, virtual meetings with the teachers, so that students get to understand more about the lesson and not to stray and do something else. Everyone needs rest and so do the teachers, that's why I think there would be days where there won't be virtual meetings and days we use modules and do tasks. That is all I have to share about this particular topic, thank you for reading and study hard fellow students!!!
